Bandar Seri Begawan, [17/05/2024]

Kare Medical Clinic is proud to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Malaysia. This historic partnership marks the first time NIOSH Malaysia is joining forces with Kare Medical Clinic to deliver comprehensive occupational health and safety training programs tailored for industries in Brunei Darussalam.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations signifies a significant milestone in advancing workplace safety and health standards in the region. Representing Kare Medical Clinic at the ceremony was Dr. Hj Mohammad Munir bin Dato Hj Metassan, Clinical Director, and representing NIOSH Malaysia was Major (R) Hj Hanif bin Maidin, Executive Secretary.

Pioneering Initiatives for Industry and Beyond

One of the first initiatives under this collaboration will be the introduction of Occupational First Aid Training and Mental Health First Aid Training for industries across Brunei. These courses are designed to equip employees with essential skills to handle medical emergencies and mental health crises effectively, ensuring safer and healthier workplaces.

Dr. Hj Mohammad Munir bin Dato Hj Metassan emphasized the importance of these training programs, stating, “The Occupational First Aid and Mental Health First Aid trainings are not only critical for preventing and managing emergencies in the workplace but also play a vital role in promoting overall public health and safety. By empowering our workforce with these skills, we are contributing to a safer, healthier nation.”

Broadening the Scope of Training Programs

Following these initial courses, Kare Medical Clinic and NIOSH Malaysia plan to roll out additional training programs relevant to various industries. These will include Chemical Safety Training, Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training, Occupational Health and Ergonomics Training, and more. Each program is meticulously crafted to address specific safety and health challenges faced by different sectors, fostering a culture of safety and well-being in the workplace.

Major (R) Hj Hanif bin Maidin highlighted the broader impact of the collaboration, “This partnership with Kare Medical Clinic allows us to extend NIOSH’s expertise and resources to Brunei, helping to elevate the standards of occupational safety and health not only within industries but also benefiting the wider community. Safe and healthy working environments are fundamental to the nation’s economic and social development.”

Enhancing Public and National Well-Being

The relevance of these training programs extends beyond the confines of industrial settings. By promoting rigorous health and safety standards, this collaboration aims to safeguard public well-being and contribute to the nation’s overall resilience and prosperity. Trained individuals will be better prepared to respond to emergencies, mitigate risks, and support mental health, creating a ripple effect that benefits society as a whole.
